Eminems Best Album Yet!

May 15th, 2009
by Patrick Daniels

With his sixth and latest release, Relapse, rapper Eminem attempts to prove himself relevant so many years after his last album. Indeed, that was back in 2004, with Encore; a lot has changed in the world of rap music since then, and with this ambitious new CD, Eminem is working hard to show why he still matters to his fans.

Eminem has teamed up, once again, with Dr. Dre to produce most of the album tracks. With twenty tracks, this album is worth every penny. Their are an array of different songs, most return to Eminem’s roots, mixing a bit of new with a lot of the old.

Despite speculation that ‘Relapse’ would never be released, Eminem fans can be thankful it did, as it lives up to all expectations. Eminem has finely polished his skills and delivers rap ingenuity that will wow even his biggest skeptics.

Like most of his albums, ‘Relapse’, opens with a theatrical, and hilarious, scene. From there, we hear “3am”, a track depicting the thoughts of a prescription pill abusing psychopath. Eminem’s controversy factor, continues through this album, and fans will be excited that he maintain that focal point in this album.

As the record progresses, Eminem continues pulling many cringe worthy references and hilarious innuendo. Yet again, Marshall Mathers berates his mother on the song “My Mom”; no Eminem release would be complete without such a track. Again, while much of the subject matter on these tracks is hardly new territory for the famous rapper, his delivery surely is; it is more deft, cutting and confrontational than ever before – and that is really saying a lot.

Relapse is a great way to hear the artist at his finest, whether a big fan or just curious. With many new trick this is an ambitious, and wonderfully produced album.
