Worthwhile Wii!

February 3rd, 2010

The Nintendo Wii has had its downs and ups. Whether it was offering games that formerly were dull and boring and changing them into thrilling and fun new installments, or their infamous sensor remote controls crashing through a game-player’s TV, the Nintendo Wii has come a good distance.

The Wii is quite a new and worthwhile gaming system with which ought to be experienced. There are loads of games, from old school to the new. Mario Kart, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and Wii Sports are just a few of the released titles.

The Wii has it’s ups and downs. Some of the ups are how interactive and just plain fun the games are. You can play them with old-fashioned controllers, and old fashioned games, or you can play the newer games and jump around.

For several games, different controllers are required. However, that does not imply you want to dish out another 40 dollars for a new controller. There are’holders’ of sorts which hold your first Wii remote and simply play. Many of these holders also come with the game in which they are supposed to be played with. I latterly saw one for Link’s adventure that came with a cross-bow holder.

Cons: The remotes. If you mistakenly forget to tighten the wrist strap, they can easily go flying into your television, gaming buddy, neighbor’s window, dog’s water bowl, etc. Also required is a charger to charge your Wii’s controllers. The chargers incidentally are about 40 dollars, which after dishing out a good 250-300 dollars for the console is a bit intimidating. HOWEVER, an alternative is to buy rechargeable batteries and a battery charger and simply switch them out. Spatial issues could also arise. The Wii is twice as fun when played with a friend, or even multiple friends, but some of the more interactive games could provide a problem in crowded places.

Aside from minor issues, it’s worth it. Everyone can and will play the Wii. Shoot, my 70-year-old grandfather plays the Wii more than his little grandchildren do! (He loooovvveeesss Wii Bowling and Wii Golf.)

Finally, you gotta be pondering just how many games there are. According to several site, it’s quite close to 450. This is quite an exponential growth considering it started with 21 in 2006.

That said, go check out the Worthwhile Wii!

Softmod Nintendo Wii

January 22nd, 2010

Now is a great time to be a gamer, with so many great consoles and great games to while away the hours on. One of the most popular consoles out there is the Nintendo Wii, offering fun for the entire family. However, as with any console, the games are not exactly cheap. Getting a Softmod Wii therefore can help here, and many other ways.

Softmodding a Wii allows a host of games to be played; be them downloaded or imported. So not only is it cheaper for the Wii owner, but also opens a host of otherwise unplayable games. The process is quite simple, and doesn’t call for installation of a chip; relying on software changes to unlock the console.

That it doesn’t void any warranty and costs next to nothing to do is brilliant too. Just make sure you know what you are doing and that any instructions have been sourced from a well respected outlet.

Fortunately, there are plenty of tutorials easily available online to help the game do this for themselves. Or, alternatively, a hand techie friend could be asked politely of course. The number of games is increased too as, once complete; the console will be able to play games from older consoles too.

Other benefits include giving the ability to play backup games which, as any seasoned gamer will admit, can in itself save a small fortune. The benefits continue with the ability to also play DVDs; standard or imported. This again is a huge cost saving to be had of course, but also allows for more interesting versions to be found and played.

These are the most common benefits of a Softmod Wii of course; and there are sure to be many others that are not really known about at present. The Wii is an excellent piece of kit, and this process just allows it to get better.

Now is a great time to be a gamer, with so many great consoles and great games to while away the hours on. One of the most popular consoles out there is the softmod wii, offering fun for the entire family. More info on softmodding wii .

Mod Wii - Hardmodding And Softmodding Wii

January 8th, 2010

You can use this article to detail some of the typical types of modifications that you can perform on your Nintendo Wii console. You see, this might be the most common console being heavily used right now that sees modifications. Mod Wii is the shortened term used for Wiis that have been worked on and “improved.”

This is in no way to imply that you should mod out your Wii. If you own the console, and are considering this as a viable option, then you ought to also be aware of the risks involved. For starters, if inaccurately performed, you could ruin your console beyond repair. If it were able to be repaired, you might also run the risk of voiding your warranty should Nintendo discover your modifications.

Should you be someone that knows what they are doing, than you could probably take advantage of these mods. If you aren’t completely aware of the detailed process, I recommend you reading into it thoroughly before attempting anything on your Wii.

If you look into them, there are two main modifications being done to Wiis. Granted, there are likely more than this, but these are the two most common. The emulator is the top mod. This program allows you to burn Wii games, Wii channels, Wii Ware, or other Nintendo/Sega console titles onto a DVD+R and play them in your console.

The second mod allows you to watch DVDs on your console. This is popular because the Wii is the only high selling gaming system right now that doesn’t have this capability. Not only are you then able to watch regular DVDs, you can also watch burned DVD files and the like. No high def movies though, at least not yet.

You will find through a little bit of research that there are many more modifications you can do to your console. Remember though, get all the details for the mod, and take your time. Otherwise, you might end up with a ruined console and nothing you can do about it.

Using the new softmod wii is easy! You can get all of the pieces you need for your mod wii whenever you need them.

Wii Homebrew 4. 0 Is In And Is Hot

January 6th, 2010

Many people are wondering how the Wii Homebrew 4. 0 measures up. Now, for those of you who are not all that familiar with what this is, the term homebrew refers to a code that was created by the ordinary person that in terms unlocks the Wii. This is unapproved, but people still want to know what others think about it.

Homebrew has become popular. You might think it is only popular to those who play the games. This is true because it allows them to play even more games. However, as these people request more games, someone has to develop them. Therefore those game creators are made to be very happy.

One thing that has helped the Wii come this far has been the mod chip. It used to be that you had to manually change things in order to get only half of what is offered with Homebrew 4. 0. This is not the case anymore. The mod chip allows for easier fun and a lot more action.

The Homebrew 4. 0 allows you to watch Dvds. It also allows you to play games that are backed up. Do not have any games? Well, did you know that with this program you can download them? That is right. They allow you to do this.

Something else that you might find cool are the applications that one can get with this. There are so many out there that you were not able to play before. Then there is the fact that you can download music and such too. That makes it worth something for those who do not have the ipod or mp3 player that most use to download music.

The results are in that while the old mod chip left you with no gurantee, this one is off the hook. The 4. 0 allows you much fun and much to do. So, we think that this is in favor of all the gamers out there. You should check it out.

To get your favorite games for free, you should consider using the new Wii homebrew thats found on the Internet. The latest update for Wii is out and called Wii homebrew 4.0, which allows you to basically play burned backups and more.

Mario Kart Wii Is Amazing

November 1st, 2009

While I’ve enjoyed many video games through the course of my life, perhaps my favorite has been the new Mario Kart game for the Nintendo Wii. I can’t seem to put this game down and it’s been a year since I bought it.

If I told you that just about anyone could play this game and pick it up quickly, I wouldn’t be lying. I have a five year old cousin who was able to win a race in the novice mode her first time trying.

Mario Kart Wii is a truly special game. It takes a classic format that achieved great success on the N64 and the Super Nintendo, and transposes it to the Wii, taking full advantage of the motion sensing controls.

The best part about this game is the Wii wheel. It’s a wireless add-on that allows you to use your regular Wii remote to guide the car, just as you would with a typical steering wheel. You wouldn’t believe how well it works.

There are so many different boards and race tracks too. With all kinds of little add-ons, the scenery is beautiful and the tracks are really intricate. With plenty of shortcut opportunities, it’ll be a while before you fully master this track. I must mention the online mode too.

In online mode, you’re able to join races of anywhere from 2 to 11 cars. The best part about it is that it’s all live, and your opponents are other owners of the game. It’s a really enjoyable challenge, and I’m seriously addicted to it. There’s also a point structure that rewards you when you win.

The ranking system is great in the sense that it really lets you know how good you are compared to other people out there. This feeds right into my competitive spirit and makes things a lot of fun.

I’ve talked enough about the game. You can see that I absolutely love it, and there’s no doubt in my mind that you will too.

Stay in touch with other video gamers with DS downloads. Nintendo of America has arrived to help all gamers by making DS Downloads, well-suited with Nintendo DS products, a player could hook up with other player using a single game card. Put in the game card into your DS console and choose the multi-player selection on the game menu, the other player then downloads the Download Play Application which automatically seeks and hooks up to the first DS Console. Keep in mind, you should download DS so that the connection works; selecting the multi-player alternative on the game’s menu is not sufficient.

You have to purchase R4 card for any of these large number of online websites and insert in slot of DS console. These extraordinary cards are with additional accessories but they also have R4 card, micro SD card along with flash drive at place of micro SD. Theses drives enable you to take games from your PC and transfer those on to the micro SD card.

These things are physically compatible with each other; The Micro SD card where all games are downloaded can fit into R4 card which in turn fits into DS console. A card can contain approximately up to 20 games, which is equivalent to cutting expenses of hundreds of dollars. If you have the card then you will never need to purchase any DS games ever.

Once games have been downloaded onto the micro SD card you need to get the games to your R4 card. First you must put the micro SD card into the flash drive which is then attached to your computer via a USB Port, a pop up will appear that says “Removable Disk (E)” and click “View Folder”.

Open the file where you have your games saved and drag the items that have (.nds) as the ending, drag it over to the flash drive and into the Game Folder. Once that is done for all of the games, simply eject the disk and put it into your DS Console.

Game Console Skins

September 15th, 2009

Pretty much all video game consoles are fairly simple and plain in design. While that may be fine for some, many want there are things to be unique and different. The good news is that there are a ton of ways you can customize your electronic devices. Whether you just want to spruce up that new iPod or even something larger such as a PlayStation 3, there is an easy way you can accomplish this - skins. In the following article I will explain to you what video game console skins are and where you can find them.

To start off, skins are actually very simple in design. Almost identical to stickers, skins or vinyl decals as they are also known as are made of higher quality vinyl material that is specially cut to fit each console specifically. They are truly durable and many last for several years - some even longer than the life of the console itself. The great thing about skins that they are very simple to apply. Anyone can do it. You just peel off the paperback and find that the holes and stick it on.

If you own a Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP, or even something else like a iPod or laptop, you can rest assured that there are skins being manufactured for it. The and industry is huge so there are many many designs available for anyone to just go out and pick their favorite one. Some places will even let you design your own skins.

Video game console skins come in many different varieties. There are plain vinyl skins that are great for most consoles and there are also gel-based skins that are perfect for handhelds but you can also get vinyl decals for handhelds as well. It’s all just a matter of preference. Designs for skins can be anything the mind can imagine the most part. Everything from simple patterns and one color designs to complex patterns with thousands of colors pictures of your favorite video game character or person.

The more expensive skins might scare you off at first because of the price difference but in reality it’s only a few dollars difference and most skins that cost a little bit more are made out of cast final which is of a higher quality than calendared vinyl. Cast vinyl lasts for years longer and is a lot more durable than calendared vinyl anyways. If you decide to go with a cheap skin don’t say I didn’t warn you.

You should never have to worry about skin fitting your console if you buy the correct type. That is to say, if you buy a Xbox 360 skin you can rest assured that it will fit your Xbox 360 but don’t expect it to fit your PS3. This is because all consoles are designed with the same chassis that is the same size across the board. But not all consoles have the same shape or size as you probably already know. Also most skins come with parts for your faceplate, case, controllers, and some even have skins for your accessories.

As you can see with just a small investment you can get a console that sticks out and expresses yourself for just a couple bucks. It really is a good investment because it checks your console from smudges and scratches in addition to improving the design. With so many great designs out there that really is no reason for you not go out and skin your console.

Trent writes articles on all sorts of video game topics including skins at skins for game console where he shows you where you can find xbox 360 console skins and many other types.
