All About Nintendo DSI

September 2nd, 2009

In early April, people across the western hemisphere will be lined up to get the Nintendo DSi, the third and newest version of the Nintendo DS. The hand held game console is very similar to its predecessor, the Nintendo DS Lite, but the features new to the Nintendo DSi make it a great improvement.

The Nintendo DSi stays true to its Nintendo roots and remains playful and cartoony which is great for Mario but not so good for pushing forward in the new generation of modern gaming.

These cameras may seem unnecessary right now, but future games for the system could include motion and facial recognition to expand on game play, in addition to using customized pictures as character profile pictures. As technology develops, the cameras could become as important to game play as the controller is now.

The pictures you take can be stored on another new addition to the Nintendo DSi, the hidden SD card slot. It plays AAC audio, and can be used to store downloaded applications from the DSi Shop. The applications range from games to useful tools such as the Moveable Notebook, which lets you make notes and keep them stored for later.

The DSi Shop is like the Wii Shop Channel on the Nintendo Wii. It uses points, called Nintendo Points (previously Wii Points), to “purchase” the applications and download them. The applications range in worth from 200 to 800 points. Applications worth 800 points are labeled “Premium.” In addition, any Nintendo DSi unit that accesses the DSi Shop prior to March 2010 will receive 1,000 free Nintendo Points.

Nintendo also improved the outer shell surface of the DSi console, substituting the glossy finish to a matte finish. This is due to the shiny finish always attracts too much fingerprints.

Next is the relocation of the power switch. It is also replaced with a power button in which the previous DS had. It is now placed on the bottom left of the touch screen. There are also notable features of the new power button. The power button can also be used to soft reset to return to the main menu which can allow the users to play a different game without having to power off the system.

There is also the new DSi shop which is an online store for the handheld console. They can download additional software, games, and other downloadable goodies on the online store. With any new Nintendo DSi console that visited the site before March 2010 receives a free 1,000 Nintendo points which can then be spent for great applications.

Nintendo DSI – Worth It?

September 1st, 2009

The latest handheld game from Nintendo is the Nintendo DSi which launched earlier this month but can it stand up to the Sony PSP another handheld game that received its original beginning in 2004. Sony PSP stands for Sony PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DSi stands for Digital System Individual. In the graphics department, the Sony PSP 3000 amazes the gamer with sharp colors and post-PS1 graphics.

The new features o the Nintendo DSi is simply an addition to the past hardware revisions. There is the noticeable addition of a .3 megapixel camera which is inside and outside the shell of the console.

These cameras may seem unnecessary right now, but future games for the system could include motion and facial recognition to expand on game play, in addition to using customized pictures as character profile pictures. As technology develops, the cameras could become as important to game play as the controller is now.

As far as the screens go, the Sony PSP 3000 as a larger, anti-glare screen which allows the gamer to play in daylight (the previous console kept a lot of people up at night because that was the best time to play) and also produces more colors therefore the image is more detailed and sharper in all types of light. For the Nintendo DSi, the screens are approximately 17% larger with both being touch interactive. The Nintendo DSi owner can also purchase a plug-in light for added visibility.

The next is the improved speakers. The new Nintendo DSi now offers music playback. Although only AAC file types are accepted, it is a very nice addition due to other versions cannot play music files.

The Sony PSP 3000 comes with a built-in microphone which you can use on Skype or record your own voice to music or have Internet music playing while you game. With the Sony PSP 3000 one could subscribe to Go!, and view TV and then purchase add-ons such as a Go! Cam camera or a Go! Explore GPS. The Sony PSP is marketed to a more adult group, 20 to 35-year-olds or a more serious gamer or someone who wants a portable game system and to be able to watch television when they’re not gaming.

How To Download DS Games – Even Newbies Can Do It!

August 28th, 2009
by Dana Goldberg

**How to Download DS Games** It’s easy to find Nintendo DS downloads. Basic searches turn up torrent and P2P sites, ad-sponsored free sites, and fee-based membership sites. We’ll let you know what kind of equipment is needed to download DS games easily.

A SD card is neccessary to transfer the games from your PC to DS, which is also inexpensive and available readily. Check at Amazon and you will find more. Once you have SD card you can start, no matter which one you choose..

Torrent and P2P sites offer free DS downloads of games, but most people are aware of the risks of downloading from sites like these. Torrent files frequently contain viruses, spyware, and malware, which are then unknowingly downloaded by users. By the time you’re aware of accidentally downloading malicious content, it’s usually too late and damage to your computer has already happened. Sometimes the damage is quite extensive and can cost a lot to repair.

Beware of the free DS download websites. “Free” means they are paid for with ads, so you will find that the pages are blanketed with ads; hidden adware can be dangerous to your computer. In addition, there are very few games to choose from and downloading the games takes forever. Sometimes these files can be corrupted so they do not work at all.

Here is an easy and safer way to download DS games: My favorite site to find Nintendo DS downloads is PocketDownloadCenter, which has fastest download speeds, best selection and no access limit. Here downloading is unlimited for members. It allows you to download music, movies and software too. And there is no risk to your computer since it is free of spyware and free from viruses.

Fee structure is another aspect that allows PocketDownlad Center to stand out from the competition. Most membership sites will charge a fee each month, however, PocketDownloadcenter does not do that. The membership will pay a one-time fee and have immediate access to more than 150,000 possible downloads. This has probably given you enough instruction on how to download ds games, so it is time to begin.

Which leads to the bottom line: How much does it cost? Between the SD card and the cost of membership, you’ll spend about as much as you would on just two new games for your DS. With safe, fast, and unlimited DS downloads, you’ll be wondering why you waited so long to join.

Nintendo DSi Review

May 11th, 2009

With the launch of the new Nintendo DSi, a lot of DS and DS Lite owners might be wondering whether or not it would be a step forward to switch to the new Nintendo DSi or not. So to stop all of the wondering, here are some of the new features in the Nintendo DSi that might get you to switch.

The DSi now has an audio player and recorder, two cameras (apparently one isn’t enough), Wi-Fi and a dedicated memory slot, an improved ergonomics and design, and an SD slot.

As you may well be aware of, the biggest weakness of the Nintendo DS was the absence of an SD slot, but now with the DSi, you will be able to download games, pictures, store music and movies, and basically do a whole lot more compared to the DS.

The cameras of the DSi are just VGA but it takes a decent quality of picture, and is good enough if you’re going to be chatting or video conferencing. With DSi you could also play with the pictures you took. There are a lot of crazy and fun settings for your pictures. The audio player also has great settings. You can adjust the pitch and speed, and add effects to recordings like echoes, instrumental only, an 8-bit tunes.

With a ton of new features, and a buttoned down look for a more sleek and user-friendly slots and buttons, the Nintendo DSi is worth switching over to from a DS or DS Lite.
