These games typically come in the form of a disc which looks like any other CD ? but they cannot be as copied as easily as a music CD. The process is a little more complicated; keep reading for some tips on copying Wii games and a guide on when you should and should not back up a given Wii game disc.

A lot of PC games also have copy protection which these programs can work around. If you have several different game systems, you can make backup copies of all of your games with this software ? you’re not just limited to copying Wii games.

Once you have the necessary software to break the encryption on the disc, you can copy the game to your hard drive as a disk image. Then you can burn a discussing this image just as you would with any other, using the CD burning software of your choice.

In many cases, these programs have copying and burning capabilities built in as well as decryption functionality. This makes it less likely that you’ll run into trouble copying Wii games.

Worthwhile Wii!

February 3rd, 2010

The Nintendo Wii has had its downs and ups. Whether it was offering games that formerly were dull and boring and changing them into thrilling and fun new installments, or their infamous sensor remote controls crashing through a game-player’s TV, the Nintendo Wii has come a good distance.

The Wii is quite a new and worthwhile gaming system with which ought to be experienced. There are loads of games, from old school to the new. Mario Kart, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and Wii Sports are just a few of the released titles.

The Wii has it’s ups and downs. Some of the ups are how interactive and just plain fun the games are. You can play them with old-fashioned controllers, and old fashioned games, or you can play the newer games and jump around.

For several games, different controllers are required. However, that does not imply you want to dish out another 40 dollars for a new controller. There are’holders’ of sorts which hold your first Wii remote and simply play. Many of these holders also come with the game in which they are supposed to be played with. I latterly saw one for Link’s adventure that came with a cross-bow holder.

Cons: The remotes. If you mistakenly forget to tighten the wrist strap, they can easily go flying into your television, gaming buddy, neighbor’s window, dog’s water bowl, etc. Also required is a charger to charge your Wii’s controllers. The chargers incidentally are about 40 dollars, which after dishing out a good 250-300 dollars for the console is a bit intimidating. HOWEVER, an alternative is to buy rechargeable batteries and a battery charger and simply switch them out. Spatial issues could also arise. The Wii is twice as fun when played with a friend, or even multiple friends, but some of the more interactive games could provide a problem in crowded places.

Aside from minor issues, it’s worth it. Everyone can and will play the Wii. Shoot, my 70-year-old grandfather plays the Wii more than his little grandchildren do! (He loooovvveeesss Wii Bowling and Wii Golf.)

Finally, you gotta be pondering just how many games there are. According to several site, it’s quite close to 450. This is quite an exponential growth considering it started with 21 in 2006.

That said, go check out the Worthwhile Wii!

LED Televisions Are The Next Big Thing

December 18th, 2009

LED technology was first used as status and indicator lamps. Over the past six years, it has been developed to meet general lighting application demands. Samsung is among the first to incorporate light-emitting diodes (LED) into television technology, which is now taking the technological world by storm.

Samsung discovered a way to use LED in Full HD television sets as the main source of light, in place of the now ancient CCFL or cold cathode fluorescent lamps. Due to this advancement, people can enjoy higher contrasts and slimmer television sets.

People can also live a greener way of life by using Samsung’s LED technologies, as they help to conserve energy. Plus, thanks to LED technology, the old backlight equipment that used mercury can be eliminated, making the home and environment safer. You can also get extended viewing from the LED style televisions which provide 40,000 hours of viewing pleasure, as compared to LCD televisions mere 60,000 viewing hours. Even with the increased viewing time, a person is saved 5 years worth of electricity. As a matter of fact, LED televisions use up to 40% less energy than the LCD HD televisions sets that are of comparable size.

LED technology captures the natural colors of real life with the production of darker blacks, crisp whites, and strong contrast between dark and vivid colors. Samsung also enhanced its LED-powered products with Auto Motion Plus frame interpolation, which effectively reduces image judder and motion blur.

LED technology captures true-to-life colors and produces darker shades and crisper lights, creating a stronger balance between bright and dark colors. Samsung has only made their LED products better with the introduction of Auto Motion Plus, which reduces the blurriness or shakiness between each picture as they move across your screen. Check one out at your local Best Buy! And see the difference for yourself.

A Final Fantasy VII Prequel For The PSP

November 18th, 2009

In’97 Square Enix released Final Fantasy VII, which quickly became one of the most popular titles in the history of the Final Fantasy franchise, and it still is today. The game is so popular that in 2005 Square Enix released a CGI movie titled Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, which was a sequel to the story in the game. While this helped keep the legacy of Final Fantasy VII alive, many fans are still hoping for another Final Fantasy VII game.

Square Enix has not delivered a sequel to FFVII, but a prequel, titled Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. This game is available exclusively on the Play Station Portable, which provides excellent graphics and superior game play for a hand held device. But what if you don’t own a Play Station Portable, is the game worth it to go out and purchase one, is it worth it to even purchase the game itself?

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has received outstanding reviews from gamers and critics. The graphics and game play on the Play Station Portable are also terrific. Whether you are a hardcore fan of the original Final Fantasy VII, or are new to the Final Fantasy franchise, you will soon become immersed in the world, and enthralled by the excellent story. If you have a Play Station Portable this is definitely a title that is worth picking up, and if you are a Final Fantasy fan it is a must own.

The style of play in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is somewhat different than the original Final Fantasy VII. While the original was a turn based RPG, this new installment is a free form battle system that allows you to control one character at a time with the freedom to move around during battles while you are attacking. All of the principal characters from Final Fantasy VII are back, but your main character, Zack, is newly introduced during the game.

This is an outstanding game that will help provide additional details about the events leading up to the original Final Fantasy VII. The only complaint about this game is that the process to increase your characters level is random, and not as fully developed as some of the other Final Fantasy titles. Aside from that one issue this is a great game that will you enjoy playing for many hours.

You Need A Flat Screen To Compete In Online Games

September 18th, 2009
by Sammy Jetert

Multiplayer online games are hot right now and many kids and adults are playing them on their game systems instead of their computers. As many households have a Wii or an Xbox, the common way to play these games is right on the television. This is great if you have a large flat screen but if you dont, you are at a big disadvantage.

Playing on a big flats screen TV is lots of fun and something we couldnt even do five or so years ago. The bigger screen also makes it easier to see what is happening around you and makes it easier to aim accurately as well. If you dont have a flat screen you need to know that almost everyone online playing with you does have one and your chances of competing well and winning are slim without one. Their advantage is just too great for someone on a small set to overcome.

You might also be at a disadvantage if you dont have a fast Internet connection. The latest and fastest technology is called FIOS which is a connection to the Internet through a fiber optic cable. If your connection has even just a tiny bit of lag, you will not do well in a game where other players all have fast connections through FIOS or even regular cable.

Even if you do have a flat screen, your picture quality may help determine how well you play. Some flat screens have better clarity than others and you need to make sure your screen is the correct brightness to be able to see everything clearly. There is a new flat screen that has just come out with LED backlighting that has the best picture on the market today. Anyone with one of these sets is going to have the highest picture clarity and that will aid them in any online multiplayer game.

Lastly, you could be playing against players that are decked out with the latest accessories and equipment. For instance, there are a variety of guns you can buy for the Wii that will allow you to aim more accurately and more easily. Someone who is playing the game with the normal controls against someone who is playing with one of these guns is at a disadvantage and might find it hard to do well. Unfortunately with online multiplayer games, between the differences in televisions, connection speeds, and accessories, all players are not on an equal playing field.

The Perils of Playing with A Nintendo Wii

August 17th, 2009
by Steve Brener Roy Breet Kevin Risse

Is the Nintendo Wii the most unsafe computer games console of all time? Well, you’ve no doubt heard or seen some of the news stories that insinuate it almost certainly is. The physical risk factor stems from the means you operate the game controller that comes with the console.

In an attempt to make a more real way of affecting the onscreen action, Nintendo have given you a controller that you move back and forth around as you play. So, for example, if you were playing a computerized game of tennis, you would move to and fro the controller as if it were a tennis racket in a actual game of tennis. This introduces a lot greater interactivity and nearly all players have reacted very positively to this.

This different way of using the game controller is without doubt unique to the Nintendo Wii and makes it stand out from the existing crop of computer gaming consoles, but it has caused problems - and even real injury - to a minority of users who’ve failed to exercise the correct level of caution.

Injuries caused by the operation of the Nintendo Wii fall mainly into two categories: 1) Injuries to players themselves straining muscles etc. that they aren’t used to using, and 2) Injuries to innocent bystanders who’ve been whacked in different parts of their anatomy by flailing games players and airborne controllers.

If you want to avoid injury to yourself from playing games on the Nintendo Wii it follows that you should use a warm up routine similar to that practiced by an athlete. Don’t laugh! Perhaps it does sound slightly ridiculous to be warming up physically before playing computer games but, sincerely, a regime of stretching movements prior to playing will guarantee that your body is warmed up suitably and will help avoid strained muscles, ligaments and tendons.

To put a stop to injury to yourself if you’re in the vicinity of a Nintendo Wii player, the best thing you can do is to stand as faraway out of harms way as possible. If you’re the player and there are others sharing the area with you then simply apply rational caution. A modicum of common sense is typically all it takes to stop accidents.

On of the commonest causes of Nintendo Wii injuries is failing to make sure that the strap that goes all-around your wrist from the games controller is appropriately secured. An unsecured Nintendo Wii games controller can definitely slip out of your grasp and strike someone.

You must make sure to check the games controller wrist strap at recurrent intervals and get a replacement if the original shows any signs of wear and tear.

As long as you stick to the above tips and implement due care when playing with your Nintendo Wii, your computer game playing should be as pleasurable and safe as possible.
